CBSE Class 11 Syllabus for Chemistry includes the fundamental concepts of atomic and molecular mass, Bohr’s model, Heisenberg uncertainty principle and the Modern Periodic law. The present form of the Periodic Table, properties of elements in the periodic table, inert gas radii, ionisation enthalpy 


Unit 4: Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure

A covalent bond, the covalent character of ionic bond, VSEPR theory, Lewis structure, the polar character of covalent bond, valence bond theory, orbital shapes of some simple molecules 


Unit 5: States of Matter: Gases and Liquids

Intermolecular interactions, types of bonding, ideal behaviour, gas equation and derivation, Gay Lussac's law, Avogadro's law, Avogadro's number

Unit 6: Chemical Thermodynamics

First, Second and Third Laws of Thermodynamics, ionisation, sublimation, solution and dilution, combustion, Hess's law of constant heat summation

Unit 7: Equilibrium

Equilibrium in physical and chemical processes, Le Chatelier's principle, strong and weak electrolytes, the concept of pH

Unit 8: Redox Reactions 

Oxidation and reduction concepts, redox reactions, balancing of redox reactions, change in oxidation number 


Unit 9: Hydrogen

Occurrence and isotopes of hydrogen, hydrides, physical and chemical properties of water, hydrogen as a fuel

Introduction, electronic configuration, occurrence, diagonal relationship, trends in chemical reactivity with oxygen, hydrogen, water and halogens

Introduction, electronic configuration, occurrence, physical and chemical properties, uses and oxidation states 

Unit 12: Organic Chemistry: Some baBasicrinciples and Techniques

IUPAC names, electromeric effect, inductive effect, carbocations, carbanions, electrophiles and nucleophiles 


Unit 13: Hydrocarbons

Nomenclature, physical properties and chemical reactions of Alkanes, Alkenes and Alkynes, aromatic hydrocarbons, Friedel Crafts alkylation and acylation, benzene
