About Exercise 8.2 of NCERT Class 10 Maths Chapter 8

The second exercise of the trigonometry chapter is based on trigonometric ratios of specific angles of 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°. There are 4 questions in this exercise and all of them are important from the exam perspective. This exercise also includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which will test your understanding of the concepts of trigonometric ratios of specific angles.

Important points related to NCERT Class 10 Maths Chapter 8 Ex 8.2:

Trigonometric Ratios: Ratios of the sides of a right triangle with respect to its acute angles are called trigonometric ratios of the angle.

Trigonometric ratios are given as:

Sine = length of the leg opposite to the anglelength of the hypotenuse

Cosine = length of the leg adjacent to the anglelength of the hypotenuse

Tangent length of the leg opposite to the anglelength of the leg adjacent to the angle

Secant = length of the hypotenuselength of the leg adjacent to the angle

Cosecant = length of the hypotenuselength of the leg opposite to the angle

Secant = length of the leg adjacent to the anglelength of the leg opposite to the angle

The values of the trigonometric ratios of an angle do not vary with the lengths of the sides of the triangle if the angle remains the same.

Trigonometric Ratios of Specific Angles: Trigonometric ratios of angles of 30°, 45°, 60° and 90° are given as:

Trigonometric Ratios for 45° angles:

Sin 45° = side opposite to angle 45°hypotenuse

Cos 45° = side adjacent to angle 45°hypotenuse

Tan 45° = side opposite to angle 45°side adjacent to angle 45°

Cosec 45° = 1Sin 45°

Sec 45° = 1Cos 45°

Cot 45° = 1Tan 45°

In a similar way, we can find the trigonometric ratios angles of 30°, 60° and 90°. The following table gives the values of the trigonometric ratios of specific angles. You must learn how to draw this table as it will help you in solving questions in the exam:

Types of questions included in NCERT Class 10 Maths Chapter 8 Ex 8.2:

Ex 8.2 Q1: In this question, you are given five different trigonometric ratios and you have to evaluate them. You will require the table given above to solve this question so that you can place the correct values for Sin, Tan, Cos, etc. For instance, in the first part of this question, you need to know the values of Sin 60o, Sin 30o, Cos 600 and Cos 30o

Ex 8.2 Q2: In this question, you are given a trigonometric ratio and 4 options. You have to choose which one of the given options is the correct solution of that trigonometric ratio and justify your answer. This is an interesting question. If you face any problems in finding the right solution, we have provided stepwise solutions for you.

Ex 8.2 Q3: In this question, you are given that if tan (A + B) = √3 and tan (A – B) = 1/√3, with 0o < A + B ≤ 90o and A > B. You have to find A and B. See how to solve this question step by step with the help of our free NCERT Solutions for this exercise.

Ex 8.3 Q4: In this question, you are given different statements and you have to prove which one of them is true and which is false. You also have to justify your answer so no guesswork would be applicable here. We have provided proper explanations for each statement in our NCERT Solutions so that you can solve this question correctly and prepare this exercise well.
