CBSE Syllabus for Class 12 Organic Chemistry 2021-2022 Exam 

 

Organic Chemistry is an important branch of Chemistry that deals with the study of the structure, properties, composition, reactions, and preparation of carbon-containing compounds. Using the knowledge of organic chemistry, scientists can create and explore molecules and compounds. Nomenclature, methods of preparations, physical and chemical properties, and uses of   Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic acids

Unit 13: Amines

Nomenclature, methods of preparations, physical and chemical properties, categorisation and uses of Amines

Unit 14: Biomolecules

Classification of carbohydrates, D-L configuration, the structure of proteins, amino acids, peptide bonds, DNA and RNA

Unit 15: Polymers

Natural and synthetic polymers, polymerization, copolymerization, some important polymers: polythene, nylon polyesters, bakelite, rubber, biodegradable and non-biodegradable polymers

Unit 16: Chemistry in Everyday Life

Chemicals in medicine, chemicals in food, cleaning agents

 

Class 12 students also have to perform organic chemistry practical experiments and learn how the theoretical concepts are implemented in the lab. The practical examination for Class 12 Chemistry is of 30 Marks and includes the evaluation of Volumetric Analysis, Salt Analysis, Content-Based Experiment, Project Work, Class record and viva.   • Preparation of any one of the following organic compounds i) Acetanilide, ii) Di -benzyl acetone, iii) p-Nitroacetanilide, iv) Aniline yellow or 2 - Naphthol Anilinedye
  • Tests for the functional groups present in organic compounds: Unsaturation, alcoholic, phenolic, aldehydic, ketonic, carboxylic and amino (Primary) group
