The JEE or Joint Entrance Examination is conducted every year to enable students to get admission into IITs, IIITs, NITs, and GFTIs. It comprises two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the country.

May 4, 2026: NTA released the final answer key for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning) after completion of the answer-key challenge process.

April 25, 2026: NTA displayed the provisional answer keys and recorded response sheets for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning), allowing candidates to challenge the provisional keys.

April 20, 2026: NTA declared the final Session 2 NTA Scores for JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.).

April 11, 2026: NTA displayed the provisional answer keys and recorded response sheets for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), allowing candidates to submit challenges.

April 8, 2026: JEE Main 2026 Session 2 was successfully conducted by NTA on 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th April 2026. Paper 1 was conducted on 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th April, while Paper 2A and Paper 2B were conducted on 7th April.

March 21, 2026: NTA released the advance intimation of examination city for candidates appearing in JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Paper 1 was scheduled on 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th April, while Paper 2A and Paper 2B were scheduled for 7th April.

March 12, 2026: NTA reopened the online application portal for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 from 12th March to 13th March 2026 for candidates who had been unable to submit their applications or complete fee payment earlier.

February 16, 2026: NTA declared the Session 1 NTA Scores for JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.). Session 1 Paper 1 had been conducted on 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 28th January 2026.

February 4, 2026: NTA displayed the provisional answer keys and recorded response sheets for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Paper 1, allowing candidates to challenge the provisional answer keys.

January 29, 2026: JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Paper 2A (B.Arch) and Paper 2B (B.Planning) were conducted by NTA in Computer-Based Test mode, with the Drawing Test for B.Arch conducted as prescribed in the examination scheme.

January 28, 2026: JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Paper 1 examination concluded after being conducted on 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 28th January 2026.

October 31, 2025: NTA released the official notification and invited online applications for JEE Main 2026 Session 1. The Session 1 registration window was open from 31st October to 27th November 2025.

October 31, 2025: NTA announced that JEE Main 2026 would be conducted in two sessions for the academic session 2026-27: Session 1 in January 2026 and Session 2 in April 2026.

February 1, 2026: NTA opened the online application process for JEE Main 2026 Session 2. The initial application window remained open until 25th February 2026.
