Important points for solving the NCERT exercises of Chapter 12 Areas Related to Circles:

The Perimeter of a Circle: The perimeter or circumference of a circle is the distance covered by travelling once around the circle. It is given by the formula:

Circumference = 2πr = πd (π = 22/7)

Where r = Radius and d = Diameter

Area of a Circle: The area of a circle is the region enclosed by the circumference of the circle. It is given by the formula:

Area of the circle = πr

Perimeter of a Semi-Circle: The perimeter of the semi-circle is half of the circumference of the given circle plus the length of the diameter. It is given by:

Circumference of semi-circle = 2πr/2 + d = πr+d = πr+2r = r(π+2)

Area of Semi-circle: The area of a semi-circle is half the area of the circle. It is given by:

Area of a semi-circle = πr2/2

Area of a Ring around a circle: It is given by the formula:

Area =  πR2 -  πr2 =  π (R2 -  r2)

Where R is the radius of the outer circle and r is the radius of the inner circle.

Area of Sector of a Circle: The area formed by an arc and the two radii joining the endpoints of that arc is known as a sector of a circle. Its area is given by:

Length of Arc of a Sector: The length of the arc of a sector of a circle is given by:
