Before talking about the BITSAT 2019 Paper Pattern, let’s see how the computer based online test for BITSAT is conducted:
In the exam, candidates sit in front of a computer and choose the right option on the computer using a mouse or a keyboard.
All the questions are in English only.
Each student receives different question set, with questions drawn randomly from a large question bank stored on a distant server (in a pre-determined manner).
Unlike traditional paper-pencil based tests like offline JEE Main exam or JEE Advanced exam, where students can’t change their answers once they have chosen an option, BITSAT 2019 Exam Pattern offers the luxury of going back and forth between questions and change answers.
Students should bring their own pen for rough work and signing documents.
Online BITS Pilani entrance exam also offers students the flexibility of choosing their Exam Center, Exam Date and Time Slot over a window period of about 16 days, according to their convenience.
BITSAT Paper Pattern 2019 does not see any change. It will have four parts:
Part I : Physics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV : Mathematics or Biology (For B.Pharm candidates)
It will have objective-type and multiple-choice questions. Each question will have four options to choose from with only one correct option. The computer will not allow students to choose more than one option for any question.
It means that each correct answer will fetch 3 marks. There is negative marking too. For each incorrect answer, one gets -1 mark. Hence, 1 mark is deducted from the total score of a candidate for each wrong answer. No marks are awarded for a question which is not attempted. Hence, students should skip questions they are not sure about as incorrect answers may actually bring down their scores.
BITSAT Exam Pattern 2019 specifies that the paper will have 150 questions in total.
BITSAT 2018 Paper Duration
The total duration of the exam is 3 hours, without any break in between.
No time-limit is specified for individual parts of the test.
It means students have to solve 150 questions in 180 minutes.
If students are able to solve all the 150 questions (without skipping any of them), they may choose to attempt 12 extra questions (4 each from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics or Biology) and increase their scores. However, they will not get any extra time to solve these questions. Moreover, once students choose to attempt these 12 questions, they will not be able to go back and change answers to original 150 questions. These questions have negative marking too, so guess work should not be tried here.
