Parallelogram: 

A quadrilateral with each pair of opposite sides parallel.

  2. Opposite angles are equal.
  3. Diagonals bisect one another.

Rhombus:

A parallelogram with sides of equal length.
  1. All the properties of a parallelogram.
  2. Diagonals are perpendicular to each other.

Rectangle:

A parallelogram with a right angle.
  1. All the properties of a parallelogram.
  2. Each of the angles is a right angle.
  3. Diagonals are equal.

Square:

 A rectangle with sides of equal length.

All the properties of a parallelogram, rhombus and a rectangle.

Kite: 

A quadrilateral with exactly two pairs of equal consecutive sides
  1. The diagonals are perpendicular to one another.
  2. One of the diagonals bisects the other.
  3. In a kite ABCD, m∠B = m∠D but m∠A ≠ m∠C.

 

Types of questions included in NCERT Class 8 Maths Chapter 3 Understanding Quadrilaterals Exercise 3.2 

 

Ex 3.2 Q1: In this question, you are given two figures. You have to study them and find the missing angles. This question can be solved based on the sum of measures of the exterior angles of a polygon. 

 

Ex 3.2 Q2: In this question, you have to find the measure of each exterior angle of a polygon with 9 sides and 15 sides respectively. 

 

Ex 3.2 Q3: In this question, you have to state how many sides a regular polygon has if the measure of an exterior angle is 24°. You must also explain your answer. 

 

Ex 3.2 Q4: In this question, you have to state how many sides a regular polygon has if each of its interior angles is 165°. Just like the previous question, you must explain your answer. 

 

Ex 3.2 Q5: This question has two parts. In the first part, you have to state whether it is possible to have a regular polygon with a measure of each exterior angle as 22°. In the second part, you have to state whether it can be an interior angle of a regular polygon and provide an explanation for your answer. 

 

Ex 3.2 Q6: This question also has two parts. In the first part, you have to state what is the minimum interior angle possible for a regular polygon and why. In the second part, you have to state what is the maximum exterior angle possible for a regular polygon.
