Chapter 2 Is Matter Around us Pure includes topics like what are elements, compounds, mixtures and solutions. You will also learn about the properties of solutions, suspensions and colloidal solutions. It also includes topics like how to separate the components of a mixture, physical and chemical changes, and the difference between mixtures and compounds. 

 

Chapter 3 Atoms and Molecules includes topics like basic units of the particle nature of matter that is atoms, atomic mass, molecular mass and mole concept. You will also study about the law of constant proportions and the law of chemical combination. The chapter also teaches you how to write the chemical formula of compounds. 

 

Chapter 4 Structure of the Atom, as the name suggests, includes the study of electrons, protons and neutrons. You will study Thomson’s Model of Atom, Rutherford’s Model of Atom and Bohr’s Model of an Atom. You will also learn how the electrons are situated in various orbits of the atom and what are isotopes and isobars.
