Unit 7: Properties of Bulk Matter

Hooke’s law, Young's modulus, Stokes' law, Pascal's law and its applications, surface energy, surface tension, heat transfer, greenhouse effect

Laws of thermodynamics, isothermal and adiabatic processes, work and internal energy, irreversible processes 

Unit 9: Behaviour of Perfect Gases and Kinetic Theory of Gases 

Perfect gas equation, kinetic theory of gases, degree of freedom, the law of equip-partition energy, mean free path, RMS speed of gas molecules 

Unit 10: Oscillations and Waves

Periodic motion, simple harmonic motion, the reflection of waves, resonance, speed of a travelling wave, standing waves in strings and organ pipes, simple pendulum derivation of expression for its time period
