CBSE Syllabus for Class 9 Biology 2021-2022 Exam

 

CBSE Class 9 Biology syllabus is included in the Science syllabus only. But, every student needs to identify the topics under each stream, that is Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Class 9 Biology syllabus includes three units: Unit II - Organization in the Living World and Unit IV - Our Environment and Unit V - Food; Food Production. All these three units comprise 30 Marks out of the 80 Marks of the theory examination. This means, if you want to score maximum marks in the theory paper, you must study biology chapters carefully and prepare them well. 

 

The three units of the CBSE Class 9 Biology syllabus include topics like the cell which is also known as the basic unit of life, tissues, organs and organ systems. You will be studying the biological diversity in nature including the major groups of plants and animals. Also, you will come to know about various health problems or diseases common in society and how they are caused. For instance, some diseases are caused by microbes, some are infectious while some are non-infectious. Then, you will be studying the concepts of organic farming, food production, and biochemical cycles in nature like the water cycle, oxygen cycle, nitrogen cycle and carbon cycle.

Unit II: Organisation in the Living World 

Cell: Types of cells, multicellular organisms, the structure of a cell - cell organelles, chloroplast, cell membrane, nucleus, et cetera 

 

Tissues, Organs, Organ System, Organisms: Four types of tissues in animals, permanent and meristematic tissues in plants 

 

Biological Diversity: Classification of plants and animal species, major groups of plants and animals and their salient features 

 

Health and Diseases: Infectious and non-infectious diseases, microbes causing diseases in human beings 

20 Marks 

Unit: IV: Our Environment 

Physical Resources: Air, water, soil and their pollution, the role of air in combustion, rainfall and moderating temperature, ozone layer depletion 

 

Biogeochemical cycles in nature: Water, oxygen, carbon and nitrogen cycles

6 Marks 

Unit V: Food Production

Plant and animal breeding, use of fertilizers and manures, protection from pests and diseases, organic farming

4 Marks
