how many hours should study to get into iit

In IIT JEE exams emphasis is more on the understanding of concepts rather than rote learning and memorizing of formulae.

Hence Quality rather than quantity matters for IIT JEE preparation. If you study conceptually and with attentive mind than 6-8 hours a day are sufficient.
