Anti-Histamines:- Antigens from environment and food create allergic reactions to our body. In these situations histamines are released from certain cels in our body.

Anti-histamines are the drugs which diminish or abolish the effects of histamine, a chemical released by mast cells during an allergic reaction.

Some commonly used anti-histamines are:-

Diphenhydramine

Pheniramine malaeate

Chloropheniramine maleate

Triprolidine

Antazoline

Dimethindene

Phenothiazine, promethazine

Chlorotheopyllinate salt

These drugs are used in the treatment of hay fever, mild asthma, insect bites, cold etc.
