Q- Plz explain in detail difference between potential and potential difference?

Dear Naina,

Difference between POtential and Potential difference:

The amount of energy per unit charge needed to move a charged particle from a reference point to a designated point in a static electric field; voltage. Also called  potential.

Potential Difference is the difference in electric potential between two points in an electric field; the work that has to be done in transferring unit positive charge from one point to the other, measured in volts. Symbol U ΔV, Δφ Abbreviation pd Compare electromotive force.
