HI MANICHANDRA, The motion of a simple pendulum is very close to Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM). SHM results whenever a restoring force is proportional to the displacement, a relationship often known as Hooke`s Law when applied to springs.

The motion of a pendulum is nearly as same as to simple harmonic motion.
Simple harmonic motion:
In mechanics and physics, simple harmonic motion is a type of periodic motion where the restoring force is directly proportional to the displacement and acts in the direction opposite to that of displacement.

Hello Mani
Small Angle Approximation and Simple Harmonic Motion. With the assumption of small angles, the frequency and period of the pendulum are independent of the initial angular displacement amplitude.
