the shortest distance between them is 14 and I have also found the equation of the shortest distance but my method is too long so please a short method

r = a1 + t b
r = a2 + s d
 
Where b and d vectors are direction ratios.
 
Hence
 
Shortest distance = (a1 - a2) . (b x d) / |(b x d)|
 
If youw ant equation then it is indeed a long method
