Hello Student
when a crystal of NaCl is heated in sodium vapour, it acquires a yellow colour. The yellow colour is due to Metal excess defect due to anionic vacancies:The anionic sites occupied by unpaired electrons are called F-centre. They impart yellow colour to the crystals of NaCl.
