							The oxidation no. of oxygen is -2 as it takes 2 electrons.Now for carbon it can be calculated as:
The charge on CO = 0
x + (-2)*1= 0
x -2 = 0
therefore,
x = +2 thus oxidation no. for c = +2 , and for o = -2 in CO
