Hydrogen would not be considered to be closest to an ideal gas.
All of the inert gases would be closer than Hydrogen. However it would be necessary to get close toabsolute zerobefore Hydrogen would condense into a liquid. Hydrogen gasH2is very stable and does not form any significant inter molecular forces, or attractions. This makes Hydrogen close to being an ideal gas
Nitrogen functions as an ideal gas at normal temperatures and pressures. But at very low temperatures Nitrogen becomes a liquid. At temperatures approaching the condensation point for Nitrogen gas, the Nitrogen moleculesN2start to form temporary intermolecular attractions that cause Nitrogen to not follow the ideal gas laws.
