Hi ! jeeva,
     HYDROGEN DISPLACEMENT METHOD :The mass of metal which displaces 11200 ml of hydrogen at NTP from an acid,alkali or alcohol is the equivalent mass of a metal.
Equivalent mass (mass given )
                      Mass of metal/Mass of Hdisplace x1.008 = W/m x 1.008
 
 
Equivalent mass (volume given)
                      Mass of metal/volume(ml) of H2 displace x 11200=w/v x 11200
This method is used for metal which can displace Hfrom acid or can combine with H(Mg,Zn,Ca etc).
