That depends on the refernce point of view.
Example edge or corner or any face of cube.
In reference to edge the number of alternate faces would be 4.

Since u r asking about alternate faces, then in a fcc system there are 2 faces.So 2 atoms occupy the positions at face centres.thus total contribution made by these 2 atoms are 2×1/2=1And we know that atoms at corner contribute 8×1/8=1.Thus formula becomes XY.
