Gold is regarded as noble metal but it dissolves in a mixture of conc.HCl (3part) and conc.HNO3 (1part).This mixture is known as aqua-regia.Gold (Au) dissloves due to formation of complex [AuCl4]-.NO is evolved in the reaction and Cl act as complex agent.
