What do you think about solubility of alkanes in water based upon non polar nature of alkanes?

The rule says “like dissolves like”.
Not only alkanes, all the hydrocarbons are insoluble in polar solvents like water because they are predominantly non-polar in nature. They are soluble in non-polar solvents like ether, carbon tetrachloride etc.
