Some ionic compound like BaSO4, Al2O3, CaF2 etc. Are insoluble in water. Why?

in baso4 , the size of ba ions and the sulphate ions are very large and therefore the lattice enthalpy is much greater than that of the hydration enthalpy . 
therefore baso4 is insoluble in water .
