Dear student,

Let the contant velocities be\vec{v_A}and\vec{v_B}. Hence relative to A, the velocity of B is\vec{v_B}-\vec{v_A}which is non-zero. Hence as seen from A, the distance between them woudl increase with constant rate of\vec{v_B}-\vec{v_A}.

Hence the assertion is wrong.
