what happens to the configuration of molecules a dielecteic when it is placed in an electric field ?
the molecules of a dielectric which are randomly arranged...... when they are placed in an external electric field , they align themselves in a particular direction i.e. in the direction of electric field.

Dielectric is made up of polar molecules (dipoles). in presence of elec field torque is exerted on these dipoles and they align themselves such that dipole moment is along the elec field
