Dear student,
An electric field surrounds any object where there is a current flow. It is similar in most respects to a magnetic field. It exists in the space around a conductor.
Electric potential is a measurement of electricity's ability to do work inside the conductor. It is measured in volts.
My understanding is that the electric field is more related to current than voltage, i.e. to the number of electrons flowing rather than how hard they are pushing.
