Capacitors P,Q,R each have capacitance C.A battery can charge the capacitor P to a potential difference V,If after charging P, the battery is disconnected from it n the charged capacitor P is connected in the following separate cases to Q n R . 1.to Q in parallel 2.to R in series. Then what will be the potential difference between the plates of P in these two cases?

Dear student,

What is meant by connected the capacitor P in series with R? You can only join two capacitors with each other by joining both the ends of them. Hence it will always be a parallel combination. And so in the case, since the capacitors are identical, the charge and hence the potential difference would equally divide in both the capacitors.
