meaning of steady state in physics

I must ask you which chapter are you studying.. ?? See.. Steady state means a state of equilibrium, when the system is not moving in any particular direction to achieve equilibrium. Net forces are zero. 

This question is kind of vague, because you have not mentioned what kind of system are you talking about. It can be in heat transfer or kinetics etc.
