Ultraviolet (UV) light is an electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength from 400 nm (750 THz) to 10 nm (30 PHz), shorter than that of visible light but longer than X-rays
then the stains are visible on the clothes

But according to the spectrum, semen has a slightly reddish colour and it is more prominent than blue colour..... but still looks white..... So it should be detected by infra-red lights!! But why UV light?

Hello Student,
Semen consists of flavin & choline conjugated proteins in it & because of these compound semen is flouroscent . It can easily be identified by blue light & ultravoilet light or under specialised light.
