Hi,

Yes, you are right!

The main aim of HGP is to map the loci of different genes over the chromosome. Gene function will be same but not identical. The sequence of bp will be different in repetitive DNA but the sequences of essential genes will never differ in normal condition.
For example, A gene coding for keratin protein will always code for the same only but the texture of hair will differfrom individual to individual.
