Red eye is a condition which occurs due to inflammation of conjuctiva (also called as conjuctivitis).The conjunctiva is the thin transparent layer of tissue that lines the inner surface of the eyelid and covers the white part of theeye.
Since this mucous membrane is absent at centre of cornea therefore vision of eye is not disturbed.
