   = cos4(π/24) – sin4(π/24) = [cos2(π/24) – sin2(π/24)] [cos2(π/24) + sin2(π/24)]  x = [cos2(π/24) – sin2(π/24)] ∵ cos2θ – sin2θ = cos2θ hence x = cos2(π/24) – sin2(π/24) = cos(π/12) ∴ x = [(√6 + √2) / 4]  = [{√2(√3 + 1)}/4]  = [(√3 + 1)/(2√2)]
