What is electrodispersion of metals? And why are sol particles charged?

Electrodispersion is the method to get metals in the colloidal form with the help of electricity in any suitable solvent.
Charge on sol particles is due to -
1. Electron captured by sol particles during electrodispersion of metals.
2. Preferential adsorption of ions from a solution or due to formulation of electrical double layer.
