Allene.... a compound where one carbon has two double bonds

Propadiene
H2C=C=CH2
The C=C=C chain is linear because of the two double bonds. The central carbon exhibits sp hybridization and linear geometry.

A better comparison is to propylene (1 double bond) where the molecule is bent at the central carbon, but all three carbon atoms are in a plane. The central carbon exhiibits sp2 hybridization and trigonal planar geometry.
H3C−CH=CH2

Ethylene is "planar" only when you include the hydrogen atoms. In ethylene there are only two carbon atoms which means that the carbon atoms must be linear.
