Number of A atoms per unit cell in hcp lattice=6. Number of octahedral voids=6 Number of octahedral voids occupied by C=(2/3)*6=4 Therefore formula of compound=C4A6=C2A3 Hope it helped. Best of luck:)

Please find below the solution to your problem.

For hexagonal close packed (hcp) crystal, there are six atoms per unit cell.Hence, A=6 (number of octahedral voids = number of atoms per unit cell).
Now C=32​ of 6 i.e. C=4.
Hence, C:A=4:6=2:3. Thus, the general formula is C2​A3​
