because of thermal equilibrium
 
Thus all bodies radiate against each other. The ones with lower temperature absorb radiation increasing their energy content and thus temperature , the ones at higher lose energy and get colder. They reach what is called thermodynamic equilibrium if no extra energy comes in, i.e. the same temperature.
