see if an electron jumps from any level to 1st then it falls in lyman series...if 2nd then balmer....if 3rd then paschen...4th bracket...5th pfund n 6th humphry...so in ur case an electron is jumping from 3rd to 1st...it can take place in two ways first from 3rd to 2nd i.e. balmer series then 2nd to 1st i.e. lyman series and second directly from 3rd to 1st i.e. lyman  series
