Dear Manisha

If the mass fraction is 0.64 then the density is about 1.54 g/mL.

Pure water has density = 1.00 g/mL.

Interpolating: 64/98*(1.84–1.00)= .55

The expected density for an ideal solution is 1.55 g/mL.

Sulfuric acid dissolves in water but not as an ideal solution at higher concentrations.

It should take a little less acid to make a 64% solution.

100 mL solution should weigh 154 grams.

0.64 x 154 = 98.6 gr of pure acid

98.6 gr/0.95assay / 1.84 gr/mL = 56.4 mL of concentrated acid

154 gr solution is 36% water weight = 154 x .36 = 55.4 gr water = 55.4 mL water

When you mix concentrated acid and water, it gets very hot and is dangerous!

Protect yourself with gloves, apron, face shield, safety goggles, and a ventillation hood with the exhaust fan running.

If you pour slowly with stirring 56.4 mL of acid into 55.4 mL of ice cold water, you should end up with 100 mL of 64% acid after it cools off.
