Adsorption of gases a=on solids are highly affected by change in pressure and temperature.

Adsorption increases with increase in pressure.
Effect of temperature depends on the nature of adsorption. In case of physical adsorption it decreases with increase in temperature because it is an exothermic process. In case of chemical adsorption, it first increases and then starts decreasing with increase in temperature. This is because activation energy is requires in starting but once the reaction i.e. chemical adsorption is started, it starts decreasing on further increase in temperature because it is also exothermic.

Discuss the effect of pressure and temperature on the adsorption of gases on solids. According to Le Chatelier's principle, the magnitude of adsorption should increase with fall in temperature & since adsorption of a gas leads to decrease of pressure, the magnitude of adsorption increases with increase in pressure
