If x gm of steam at 100*c is mixed with 5x gm of ice at 0*C calculate the final temperature of resulting mixture the heat of vapourisation and fusion are 540cal/gm and 80cal/gm

Dear Chandrakesh

let the final mixure is water at T degree centrigrate.

heat given by vapor =heat taken by ice

x*540 +x*c (100-T) = 5x*80 + 5x*c* (T-0)  wher C is the heat capacity of water=1 cal/gm/oC

so x*240 =6xT

T=40  oC
