Greater electrn negativity difference means they will attract the bondpair electrons with different powerThe one with higher EN will attract the electron pair more powerfully and bring it closer to itselfHence it will have small negative charge(∆-) on it and the other one a ∆ + charge due to electron pair.Hence ∆+ and∆- Witt attract each other and hence bond length will decreaseSo more the EN more the charges so more the attraction hence less the bond lengthFinally bondstrength is inversely proportional to bond lengthHence less the bond length more the bond strength.Hope you got the answer........
