Coordination no. Is simply the no. Of bonds surrounding a particular atom . For Eg. FeCO5 i.e fe is surrounded by 5 bonds so coordination no is 52)= fe(c2o4)3 coordination no is 6 as c2o4 makes two bond with metal. Berrylium have coordination no. not more than 4 because it lacks d orbitals which are present in higher metals which is responsible for coordination no 6
