the products in last second step of mechanism of aldol condensation reaction that is before the dehydration step the products formed are aldol products

Aldol condensation involves 2 steps:

1^st involves reaction to give a beta-hydroxy ketone/aldehyde --- called the “aldol” or aldol product.

2^nd involves elimination of water from this “aldol” (the condensation step) to give an alpha-beta unsatrated ketone/aldeyhde. This is the aldol condensation product.

To give an example,

CH3-CHO + CH3-COR -------> CH3-CHOH-CH2-COR (the “aldol”; a beta-hydroxy aldehyde; R can be H or alkyl group)

CH3-CHOH-CH2-COR ----------> CH3-CH=CH-COR (the aldol condensation product; anaplha-beta unsaturated carbonyl compound)
