Total No. of stereo isomers formulais 2^n. But the formulas like 2^(n.-1)+2^(n/2-1) not giving same result. Let us calculate for an unsymmetrical molecule with 4 Chiral carbons. Total stereo isomers=2^4=16 Using another formula 2^(4-1)+2^(4/2-1)=10 for a unsymmetrical molecule with 5 assymmetric carbon Total 2^5=32 and another way rsulting 2^4=16. how my perception is wrong?
