If there is methyl group present on ortho of anniline , then basic character decreases. WHY??

the besicity of para methoxy aniline is controlled by resonance effect , so, drawing resonance structure , we see that the para methoxy group is pushing electron density into the ring . this tend to keep the nitrogen lone pair more localised in nitrogen . 
so, THERE ARE ELECTRON ATTRACTION EFFECT OF METHYL GROUP . 
FOR THAT IT WILL REDUCE THE CHARGE ON NH2 
THUS DECREASING ITS BESIC CHARECTER OR BESICITY .
