If D and L configuration means changing the configuration in the last carbon, why do we change the configuration in all carbons in D Glucose and L Glucose?

For sugars with more than one chiral center, the D or L designation refers to the asymmetric carbon farthest from the aldehyde or keto group.….….….….….….….….….….….….........................................................................................................................................
