(1)  in case of low grade copper ore, leaching is done by using bacteria or acid in the presence of air, in this process copper get converted into Cu2+ ion.
Cu + 2H+ + ½ O2 => Cu2+ + H2O
Then resulting solution is treated with scrap iron or H2 to get metallic copper .
 Cu2+ + H2 => Cu + 2H+
(2) Pig iron has many inpurities and has 4% carbon while cast iron has 3% carbon and it is more hard and brittle as pig iron ..
