oxygen compounds in which the oxygen atom is bounded with carbon atom through a double bond are known as carbonyl compounds.the functional group (c=O)is known as carbonyl group.the carbon atom of this group have two remaining bonds that may be occupied by hydrogen or alkyl or aryl groups.if atleast one of the group is hydrogen then it is known as aldehyde.if both are hydro carbon groups then it is ketone...ALDEHYDE AND KETONES COMBINLEY KNOWN AS CARBONYL COMPOUNDS
