Tension in the rope in upward direction = 30.2 N .

weight of bucket in downward direction = mg

net force in upward direction = 30.2 - mg

30.2 - 2.89 x 9.8

= 1.878 N

acceleration = net force / mass

= 1.878 / 2.89

= .65 m /s² .

= 65 cm /s²
