In ncert , its given that a pn junction diode allows current to flow only when it is forward biased. But, in the graph current is shown in reverse bias also. Plz clarify.
Dear Sumit, It is true that ideally there should be no current in reverse biased case of p-n junction, but there would be some current leakage because of minority charge carriers on each side i.e. on p side it is electrons and on n side it is holes. Thus we doget some current in reverse biased condition but this is very low because the concentration of the minority charge carriers are very low. Thus the current due to them is very low when compared to that of the majority ones(in forward biased). Please feel free to post as many doubts on our discussion forum as you can.
